Whimsical Colors Silky Sport is a sport weight yarn that works up beautifully on US 2  (2.75mm) to US 4 (3.5mm) needles.  Made up from 85% fine merino (19.5 micron) and 15% silk, it is a luxury yarn perfect for hats, cowls, special baby garments, and other next to skin items.  It is a hand wash yarn, but I wouldn’t let that deter me from using it for a baby sweater.  Care is easy – toss it into a bowl with some wool wash such as Eucalan (3.3oz bottles here: 3.3oz, 16.9oz bottles here: 16.9oz) and let soak for 15 minutes (or overnight!).  Squeeze out the excess water and roll it up into a towel to get out as much water as you can.  Then lay flat to dry.
